Hot Apple Cider recipes

2/23/16

This drink is ideal for fall and winter time but since SoCal is still cold in the night time, I thought this drink is good for this cold weather. This apple cider will warm you up from head to toes.

I went crazy for this drink when my pastor invited us to his Christmas party at his house, and his wife served us this drinks, it so delicious I can't get over it.
At first it looked strange to me because the way the orange look with many cloves stick in it, so I didn't really care as much until my sister tried it and offered me to taste it and said," Jo, you would regret it if you don't try it, just one sip..." so then I tried it and I was hooked. We went home without a chance to asked for the recipe.

About a week ago I went to church and met my pastor's wife and she gave me this recipe, so I made it for us and discover that: this drink is not just good as a hot drink but even better when is a cold drink also. Just perfect for California weather.

So ladies if you want to try it, I would love to share this recipe with you:

Ingredients:
2 (2L) quarts apple cider
1 orange
2 cinnamon sticks + 1 for serving
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice whole
1/4 cup brown sugar
An ounce of rum (optional)

Direction:

  • Warm the sauce pan or crock pot on low heat
  • Pour apple cider into a pan and add cinnamon sticks.
  • poke holes all around the orange, about 1/2 inch with the toothpick. put the cloves into the toothpicks holes in the orange.
  • Place orange into the pan.
  • cover and simmer on the low heat until spiced through, in about 2-3 hours. Stirring Occasionally
  • You can mix it with an ounce of rum (optional)
Enjoy
